Exchange a foreign driving licence

You live in Germany and have a driving licence from abroad? We help you exchange it.

Good to know

A licence from a country outside the EU/EEA is usually valid for 6 months from when you take up residence in Germany.

If your country is listed in Annex 11 FeV, the exchange is usually easier.

Without the list of states you take the theory and practical test – but there are no compulsory lessons.

Country not in Annex 11 FeV? Then also first aid, driving school and eye test (for C/D medical examination).
